CES 2019 sees Cambridge Audio add a classic spin to the classic turntable-- the Alva TT features aptx HD Bluetooth streaming, allowing it to stream 24-bit 48kHz audio to compatible devices.
The Alva TT is styled after the Edge hifi separate range from the British company, if with the addition of a a Bluetooth transmitter for the beaming of LP audio to compatible headphones or speakers. Designed and built in-house, it carries a direct drive design with a built-in phono stage, single piece tonearm and a high output moving coil cartridge.
Part of the Master Series, the Z9G promises "the pinnacle of picture quality," with the latest Picture Processor X1 Ultimate image procesor and X-Reality PRO technology ensuring all content, regardless of native resolution, looks at its best. To do so, the TVs also use "a unique algorithm specially developed for 8K that can intelligently detect and analyse each object in the picture, resulting in exceptional detail and contrast for a more realistic picture that represents the creators’ intent.”
DTS:X is an immersive object-oriented audio format. As used in high-end commercial cinemas, DTS:X utilises up to 64 uniquely-rendered channels (plus LFE) for high spatial resolution and realism. However, the residential version of DTS:X has been limited to a total of 11.1 channels, meaning 7 "bed" channels at listener level, an LFE channel, and 4 upper channels above the listening area.
The 200 Pre has an adjustable 12-140Hz high-pass crossover and offers inputs for just about any source, including phono MM/MC, x2 line inputs, theatre bypass for L, R and 2 subs, digital USB, coax and optical. The front panel has an aux line level input with an automatic 12dB gain increase to improve sound quality for portable devices. The DAC is a Burr-Brown number found in the recently discontinued Halo P5 preamp.
The Signature OLED TV R takes advantage of the flexible nature of OLED displays by rolling up in a cabinet when not in use, before rising at the touch of a button. The rolling mechanism even allows for a choice of 3 display modes, Full View, Line View and Zero View. Full View is self-explanatory, providing a 16:9 display, while Line View just shows a slim slice of display, allowing for music playback, clock/weather, mood and photo display. Zero View keeps the display inside the cabinet for use as a sound system. Unfortunately the TV does not provide other aspect ratios, such as 21:9 for home cinema use.
The cables also support video resolutions up to 4K/60 @ 4:4:4 with HDR, EDID, HDCP and CEC, as well as HDMI audio formats. The active cables are unidirectional, and draw only nominal power from the connected HDMI source device. Diameter is just 4mm, and offers a narrow bend radios for easy installation and uncompromised performance. A combination of traditional copper and fibre optics makes a cable reaching up to 91.4m in length.
