Headphone maker Ashley Chloe presents a modular smart speaker concept at CES 2018-- the Ensembl, a rose gold and cream cylinder with a series of stackable plastic discs on top.
The main cylinder making the Ensembl as as the main speaker unit, but the addition of different modules turn into nothing less than a "smart wirelessly charged home entertainment system," at least according to the company. Actual modules were not available at the show, but the Ashley Chloe says these can include a 360-degree IP camera, glowing lantern disc, Qi charging base, battery and even a pico projector.
This means customers will be able to control over 20 ovens, washers and dryers via the smartwatch. Controls including checking on current oven status and commands during an active cycle, controlling the wash options of a washer active cycle, and controlling and checking whether a dryer started a cycle.
As seen at CES 2018, the U by Moen system consists of a digital valve able to control water temperature by the digit. The valve can be applied to fixtures such as shower heads, hand showers and body sprays, and can is controllable via in-shower control pad as well as companion U by Moen app.
The Safe & Sound works like other hardwired internet-connect First Alert products, sending alerts to homeowners' mobile devices in case of emergency. It also doubles as an in-ceiling audio system, thanks to the addition of high-end speakers offering omni-directional audio with "crisp vocals and powerful bass."
As 2017 comes to a close it is as good a time as any to take a look back at the times in custom install that have been, from smart speakers going mainstream to any number of company acquisitions and mergers.
