Samsung continues to push QLED-- the rival technology to OLED promising similar image quality while being easier to produce-- at CES 2018, with an upgrade promising improved lighting management as well as any number of smart features.
The Korean giant still has to detail its 2018 TV lineup, even if it does include at least one model boasting brightness reaching over 2000 nits thanks to full-array local dimming (or directly backlighting the quantum dots making the display). This is significant, since 2017 QLED TVs could only reach a maximum 1000 nits brightness.
Further improvements include a layers of black and anti-reflection filters to minimise internal light leakage and external glare as paired with an anti-blooming algorithm. The company also says 2018 QLED TVs will be "tremendously" easy to setup via syncing with a smartphone or tablet, while the addition of Bixby provide voice control.
The Epic 3 uses 4x4 MIMO (Wave 2) technology to deliver wireless data at up to 3100Mbps for fast streaming and bandwidth-intensive applications. The router offers a full feature set, with an easy-to-use interface and capabilities ensuring optimal network performance, scalability and security, including firewall, QoS, virtual local area network (VLAN) support and virtual private network (VPN).
Klipsch announces the addition of a smart assistant in the next generation Heritage Wireless tabletop speakers-- specifically Google Assistant, providing voice control together with assistant functionality.
The deal covers certain Ihiji IP, development and support teams, and inventory. Financial details are not available.
The LSPX-A1 is designed to sit close to the walls, and is able to project a 120-inch image from a distance of 24cm. Projected images are at native 4K resolution (4096 x 2160) and come complete with HDR and 2500 lumens peak brightness. It should be compatible with any 4K content source, be it a connected device or 4K Blu-ray players.
Smart Display is, essentially, a platform for Google Assistant-powered smart speakers featuring a display. Google insists such devices are not mere Android tablets, since they use a full voice interface and actually run on Android Things, a variant of the OS designed for IoT. Smart Display devices cannot run apps and present traditional assistant functionality using what appears to be a card-based UI.
