The 2018 IFA+ Summit is all about cybernetics and AI, as the organisers announce Moon Ribas and Stephen D. Larson as industry speakers at the IFA think tank taking place on 2-3 September 2018.
Ribas is a Spanish artist with a sensor implanted in her foot allowing her to feel earth tremors tens of thousands of kilometers away. Meanwhile Larson is working on the OpenWorm project, with the aim to virtually replicate the human nervous system.
The message of the 2018 IFA summit is science fiction or science fact? The lines between the two are blurring. Other confirmed speakers include ex-chess world champion Garry Kasparov, CEO of Airbus company Voom Uma Subramanian and Jens Lambrecht, founder of Berlin-based startup Gestalt Robotics.
The AVC-X8500H has 13 channels of inbuilt amplification, as well as 13.2-channel processing. It delivers a 9.1.4 setup or a 7.1.6 Dolby Atmos system, with support for as many as 6 overhead speakers, and handles a variety of audio formats including DSD, WAV, ALAC and FLAC. Video connectivity cones through x8 HDMI inputs and x3 outputs, all with support for eARC, HDCP 2.2 and HDMI specification such as 4K UHD, HDR and 3D.
Originally created for high-end home theatres, the cloud-based software features a recently launched Media Room Pro tier complete with an expanded choice of products. TCD quickly calculates the RT60/500 Sabine equation, foot-lamberts calculation, flat panel display placement, seating configuration, immersive CODEC (up to 9.1.4) and loudspeaker and subwoofer placement of a media room.

HDBaseT support allows the switcher to receive video, embedded audio and ethernet over Cat6a or Cat7 cable up to 100m. Automatic input selection using hot plug detect (HDP) and active video detection technology intelligently switches between inputs without intervention when the user connects a new source. The Juno X is HDCP 2.2-compliant and is compatible with the 4K HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR formats at 60Hz.
The Deadbolt 2S is 11m thick at the front panel, and provides keyless access to homes via either Bluetooth keys or PIN codes created through companion Igloohome app. The physical key remains an option as backup, and the Deadbolt 2S needs no internet connectivity, making it safe from wifi hacking attacks. Finally, customers renting out property via Airbnb can also synchronise the Deadbolt 2S with a listing calendar to automatically create PIN codes for guests. Further features include a tamper alarm, decoy security code, privacy mode and auto-relocking.
