Signify announces a pair of additions to the Philips Hue smart lighting range-- the Hue Play light bar and the Hue Signe lamp, both aimed at customers wanting to bring a splash of coloured light to the walls.
The Play is a compact light bar one can position in a variety of ways. It provides an indirect light effect, and can sit horizontally or vertically next to a TV, or mounted behind as a backlight. Other suggested uses include placement on the floor or on a bookcase or sideboard to provide accent lighting. A sleek design (in black or white) allows it blend into any entertainment area, while control comes through the Hue bridge and companion app.
To do so, the cable uses FIBBR TransFuture technology, with 2 micro-controller units managing the signals for EDID and HDCP 2.2 operation. The system also includes a firmware update option to remedy compatibility issues.

Meanwhile the N850 is a 5.1.2-channel model, and offers a main unit speaker and a woofer.
Reportedly dubbed "Frank," the device includes physical storage and paires with Fire TV boxes through the same wireless technology used by Echo devices. The story adds users will be able to record live TV and stream the video to smartphones for later viewing, functionality already offered by TiVo and Dish Network's Slingbox.
