Camplex starts shipping seven versions of the popular TAC-N-GO tactical signal extender systems able to convert and extend 4K HD/3G/6G/12G-SDI, HDMI, 100BaseT ethernet or audio signals over tactical fiber optic cable, depending on the model.

Each system consists of a field-deployable fibre optic converter system connected to a cable reel hub. All models include 305m of tactical single-mode fibre optic cable loaded on a rugged cable reel, as well as power supplies for rapid field deployment in any environment. The TAC-N-GO series features simple adjustments to meet deployment requirements by allowing the attachment of either transmitter or receiver to the reel.

Bose starts 2020 with the closing down of all retail operations in Europe, N. America, Japan and Australia. The reason? You might have guessed this correctly since it is, as the company puts it, "the dramatic shift to online shopping."

"Originally, our retail stores gave people a way to experience, test, and talk to us about multi-component, CD and DVD-based home entertainment systems," a statement from the company continues. Extron adds 16x8 and 16x16 models to the DXP HD 4K PLUS series of HDMI matrix switchers, both with support for data rates up to 18Gbps and video resolutions up to 4K/60.

In addition, the switchers handle 4:4:4 colour sampling, HDR, Deep Color up to 12-bit, 3D, HD lossless audio formats and CEC, with technologies such as EDID Minder and Key Minder ensuring both system performance and compliance with HDCP-encrypted content. The matrix switchers also facilitate integration into a wide range of AV applications with audio de-embedding and audio breakaway capabilities.

Sony joins the list of companies launching an 8K TV at CES 2020 with the ZH8-- a TV featuring a full array LED panel and what it company dubs a frame tweeter, a technology turning the TV frame into a speaker.

Essentially, the frame tweeter vibrates the frame of the TV to emit sound, giving viewers the feeling sound is coming directly from the screen. Available in 85- ad 75-inch models, the ZH8 also features the X1 Ultimate picture processor and 8K X-Reality PRO technology to upscale content to what Sony claims is "closer to 8K quality," while ambient optimisation automatically adjust image brightness according to the ambient lighting of the room.

Metra Home Theatre Group (MHTG) debuts the Helios DisplayPort cables at CES 2020-- a range of cables with support for video resolutions reaching up to 8K avaialable in 90cm (AS-DP-3003), 1.8m (AS-DP-3006) and 2.7m (AS-DP-3009) lengths.

The Helios cables work with resolutions ranging from HD (1920×1080@60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz) to 8K (7680×4320 @ 60Hz, 10-bit color, RGB 4:4:4, HDR, DSC), and support the highest quality audio pass-through for digital 7.1, 5.1 or 2 channels. They are also designed to facilitate multi-monitor configuration with a Display Port 1.4 cable, and are backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 cables.
