August presents a pair of smart locks-- the Smart Lock Pro and the next generation Smart Lock, both featuring DoorSense, a sensor allowing the locks to detect whether the door is open or closed.
As one might expect from the name, the Smart Lock Pro is the full-featured August smart lock offering. It supports wifi via included Connect bridge, as well as Bluetooth, HomeKit and Z-Wave Plus. It also includes Active Monitoring, a service providing users with "smarter" alerts for any activity at the door, including the aforementioned DoorSense feature.
Meanwhile the regular Smart Lock is a lower-cost version offering basic functionality, if with the addition of DoorSense to ensure the door is securely closed and locked.
Also announced by August is the Doorbell Cam Pro-- an improved version of the company's take on the video doorbell. It features a built-in floodlight for colour night-time video, which can motion triggered to scare away uninvited guests. Another new feature is HindSight, a means to start recording video before motion is detected.
Installation also promises to be easier through the addition of a USB dock for setup and a new bracket for simpler wiring and mounting.
The Smart Lock Pro and Smart Lock are available now, with the Doorbell Cam Pro to follow on October 2017.
