The Samsung 2017 TV lineup has a curious addition reminiscent of a relic from the (relatively recent) past-- The Frame is a TV doubling as a picture frame, much like the digital photo frames from the pre-iPad era.
The result of a collaboration with famed industrial designer Yves Behar, The Frame even has an Art Mode where it displays over 100 pieces of art when not in use as a regular TV. It is designed to be hanged flush against walls, and for such purposes Samsung supplies a new gapless wall mount and an "Invisible Connection," single optical cable handling all connectivity.
Further details on The Frame, including size, are not available as yet. What Samsung does detail is its upcoming selection of QLED TVs, with options ranging from the 55-inch Q7 to the 75-inch Q8. All offer quantum dot technology, the OLED alternative Samsung insists offers a wider colour range (100% colour volume according to Verband Deutscher Elektrotechnieker) as well as higher brightness levels and deeper blacks.
Also announced are a pair of peripherals-- the MS750 Sound+ soundbar (a unibody soundbar with a built-in subwoofer able to go as low as 35Hz) and the UBD-M9500 Blu-ray player, a successor to the UBD-K8500 complete with the Samsung Smart platform and Blu-ray to mobile functionality.
The Samsung QLED TVs are available now. The UBD-M9500 ships in April, with the Sound+ to follow on Q3 2017. The Frame should hit the market sometime on Q2.
