Philips Leans on TV Design

DesignLinePhilips TV shows off a different take on the traditional HDTV with the DesignLine-- an LCD display set behind a seamless gradient black pane of glass.

A "hallmark of lightness and transparency" (as the TP Vision PR puts it) the DesignLine lacks neck, stand or visible frame, and stands up by leaning against walls via "smart" mount.

The HDTV operates at 1400Hz and carries a dual-core processor, wifi, ethernet, x4 HDMI ports, MiraCast and 3D support, while Philips Ambilight technology on 3 sides provides matching lighting according to what is on screen.

The Philips DesignLine will be available in European markets in either 46- or 55-inch variants from Q2 2013.
