Modulus Ships Streaming DVR

Texas-based Modulus Media Systems announces it started shipping its "DVR designed for the streaming era"-- the M1, a multi-function media hub able to record all streaming shows, and organise said recordings in folders for easy enjoyment.

The result of over 10 years of development, the M1 was first announced back in 2016 with plans for a late 2017 release. Of course that was not to be, but now the M1 will be making an appearance at CEDIA 2019, where installers can check it out before, if interested, making an order for "immediate delivery."

"The business story behind this retail product is that we have wonderful, patient investors who encouraged us to "get it right the first time,"" the company says. "So we spent 6 extra months on software development and another 3-4 months in beta to get new features into Modulus and the whole system optimised. We also took lots of input from system integrators who really helped us craft Modulus into something very special that consumers have never seen before."

The M1 promises to be a combination of multiple pieces of home entertainment hardware software, with the features of a DVR, function-rich media centre, multiple streaming boxes, Blu-ray/DVD player and personal media organiser. It carries 6TB of storage (with an option for 20TB) and allows users to import own media from CDs and PC/mobile device libraries, as well as record content from streaming services.
