Vodafone Launches V-Home Smart Home Service

Vodafone officially launches V-Home in Spain-- a smart home service powered by the Samsung SmartThings platform promising to allow  “customers to know what happens in their homes at any time and place.”

V-HomeFirst presented back at Mobile World Congress 2018, the V-Home service is part of a selection of "all-in-one" fibre, mobile and TV packages. The result of an "exclusive" partnership with Samsung, it is based around the SmartThings hub. All devices are controllable via smartphone, with a companion app allowing one to remotely monitor the home.

The V-Home Safety Starter Kit includes a SmartThings Hub, camera for day/night recording (with up to 14 days/10GB of cloud-based video storage), sensor (monitors doors/windows and temperature) and a siren (sounds up to 85 decibels and emits light). All device connect to the hub via ZigBee, and customers can bolster the package further through add-ons such as a "detection kit" (includes water and smoke sensor) and "automation kit" (a motion sensor, smart plug and LED bulb).

As mentioned earlier, the package is initially available in Span, but Vodafone plans to roll it out in more European countries in the near future.
