Crestron Software at ISE 2013

The Crestron ISE 2013 stand houses an EMEA software launch-- Crestron Studio, a unified development environment promising make home automation system design and programming easier for installers.

Crestron StudioThe company claims the software simplifies the once lengthy tasks of system and GUI design, with backward compatibility allowing users to update and support 2- and 3-Series SIMPL programs, user drivers and VT Pro-e projects.

SmartObjects are the building blocks for the system-- drag-and-drop presets allowing users to instantly add controls for commonly used functions, such as media players, lighting, weather, TV and intercom, complete with proper buttons, knobs, sliders and switches for each type of source.

“For example, the media player requires only one object, one join number, one time for the entire project,” Crestron says. "Drop the media player SmartObject onto a page and instantaneously populate your screen with the transport controls, album art, artist and song information, and even gesture controlled library lists. Utilize that same SmartObjects for multiple media players. SmartObjects will automatically display the appropriate buttons."

Meanwhile Smart Sizing technology automatically scales graphics to fit all touchscreen sizes, providing a consistent UI in every room with no need for reprogramming, redrawing or resizing.

Once a project is finished Universal Upload handles simultaneous uploads to touchscreens, smart devices and PCs, regardless of size, resolution or OS.

Supported technologies include Adobe Air, HTML5 and H.264 video, providing kinetic effects for custom knobs, sliders and gauges on Core 3 Crestron touchscreens.

Crestron Studio is now available as a free download.
