Crosley Brings the Cassette Deck Back

Budget turntable maker Crosley turns attention to another supposedly dead audio format-- cassette tape, as the company launches the CT100 and CT200, the first of two such players from the company.

Crosley C100“Just as our portable record players helped bring vinyl mainstream years ago, we know our new cassette players will lead the charge on the revival of the cassette tape,” Crosley says. “These new cassette players bring together the retro design and nostalgia of the 80s with modern technology, making them a must-have for all generations of music lovers.”

Both CT100 and CT200 are tape decks with casette auto stop, AM/FM radio and a headphone jack. A built-in microphone allows users to record themselves, and the deck being single direction means one has to flip the tape once playback of one side is over.

The players do have a couple of anachronistic contemporary features-- the CT100 gets shortwave radio and supports music playback off SD cards and USB drives, while the CT200 has an extendable antenna, treble and bass dials and a VU meter.

The CT100 and CT200 are available now.
