Legrand-owned smart home company Netatmo takes on connected security at CES 2020 with the imaginatively named Smart Door Lock and Keys-- a home security system replacing the regular key with an NFC-based Smart Key.

Customers can install the Smart Door Lock as a replacement to any cylinder door lock. It does not use wifi, meaning it cannot connect to the internet. Instead, connectivity is based wholly on Bluetooth, and key data is stored on the lock itself, making it more secure against electronic attacks. In fact, Netatmo claims the lock has three certifications against both physical and electronic attacks, A2P*, BZ+ and SKG***. Powering the lock is a battery supposed to last for two years before replacement is required.

Connected security product maker Wyze announces a take on the smart lock-- the Wyze Lock, a wifi- and Bluetooth-connected lock customers can use with existing cylinder deadbolts, making it easier to install.

Compatible with most, if not all, cylinder deadbolt locks, the Wyze Lock requires connection with the included Wyze Lock Gateway wifi bridge for remote door locking and unlocking via companion Wyze app. In case the wifi is dead, Bluetooth connectivity allows customers to open the door via smartphone and Bluetooth, and in any case the door retains the regular key.

Vivotek updates the VAST 2 video management software with several advanced features, such as Smart Search II deep learning technology, cybersecurity protection and license plate recognition integration.

Smart Search II builds on deep-learning video content analytics, and allows users to search for specific objects and people in a specific region. A People Detection feature means only people-based activities serve as event triggers. Thus, a security operator does not need to search through extensive footage for critical videos, improving efficency and effectiveness.

Abode releases an update adding Apple HomeKit compatibility to the Iota all-in-one home security solution, enabling control through Apple Home app and Siri on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Home Pod.

The Iota system features a built-in HD camera, motion sensor, two-way audio and wifi connectivity. HomeKit allows Apple users to add the Iota directly to the Home app, providing a single means to control the smart home. In addition, customers can add all Adobe-branded motion, door and window sensors connected to the Iota gateway to the Home app.

Bird Home Automation adds IP intercoms with up to 18 call buttons to the DoorBird product line, expanding the product line with models featuring displays, keypads for multi-tenant buildings and custom solutions.

The company claims the IP intercom systems are easy to integrate and wire in new and existing buildings. They require no additional hardware apart from network infrastructure, distinguishing DoorBird from other vendors and products depending on additional devices such as gateways. Architects, technical building planners and installers can use DoorBird IP technology to benefit from smooth integration and scaling.

ELAN claims to raise the bar in home automation with the Intelligent Video Doorbell, a product bringing seamless integration and advanced features adding to the intelligent home experience.

According to ELAN, many video doorbells often require a separate app, and do not fully integrate into home control systems. However, the ELAN Intelligent Video Doorbell offers intelligent features adding peace-of-mind to the main access point of the home. For instance, it integrates motion analytics to accurately report real motion events, eliminating false alerts.

In addition, the doorbell improves security by acting as an ELAN system surveillance camera. As such, the ELAN NVR captures video, and all is controllable through the ELAN app. Fully integrating the doorbell with the control system enables installers to create sequences of automated events, such as turning on lights in case of motion detected during evening and night time hours.
