A 4-in-1 design allows indoor mounting via stand, wall-mount kit and magnetic mount, while a smartphone app provides setup, recording schedules, motion detection zones, watching of live or recorded video, event notifications and speaking through the camera.

RTI announces video intercom support for select RTI controllers and 3rd party intercom-enabled devices, a capability ideal for front door access, security gates and room-to-room applications.

RTI controllerVideo intercom capabilities are supported on the RTI KX3, KX7 and KX10 in-wall touchpanels, the CX7 and upcoming CX10 countertop/under-cabinet touchpanels, and the flagship T3x, creating the first RTI video intercom-enabled handheld controller. A free firmware update also allows dealers to leverage video communications on compatible devices with H.264-based video intercom support via SIP.

The devices support auto answer and do not disturb modes, while a push-to-talk audio mode lets users communicate via voice only from device to device.

LG Smart securityThe Smart Security acts as a smart home hub, with Bluetooth, wifi, Z-Wave and ZigBee connectivity allowing it to pair with a variety of devices. Z-Wave support allows the addition of contact sensors to doors and windows, while a companion iOS/Android app provides centralised control. Firmware updates should add compatibility with more devices, including smart locks and thermostats.

Yale Smart Locks Get HomeKit

Yale lockConnected lock maker Yale announces a number of its products will get compatibility with Apple HomeKit by March 2017, specifically through a separately sold HomeKit plug-in module.

The HomeKit module is similar to other Yale add-ons providing ZigBee and Z-Wave connectivity. It plugs into the control port of the Real Living Assure and NexTouch Wireless smart locks, and once set up it provides users with access to the Apple smart home platform.

Blink announces a first outdoor camera-- the Blink XT, a small 1080p wireless camera able to run for over 2 years on a pair of regular lithium AA batteries customers can place just about anywhere.

Blink cameraLike other Blink cameras the XT features a 110-degree field of view and uses the same mounting system, only with the addition of IP-65-rated construction and infrared night vision. It does need to be in range of a wifi signal, but once connected to the internet the camera provides Alexa integration and free cloud-based storage for the viewing of 5-60 second clips triggered by the built-in motion sensor via iOS and Android Home Monitor app.

Users can also pair the XT with indoor Blink cameras to create a home security network.
