Panasonic Adds to Top of Range

  • PDF

Panasonic launches PT-D12000 and PT-DZ12000, a pair of hi res projectors for the top of the range.

Panasonic’s brightest projector in the range at 12,000 lumens, with WUXGA 1920x1200 resolution, these projectors serve both rental and permanent installations, particularly for venues where high ambient light creates a problem.

The PT-DZ12000 offers a wide screen image-viewing alternative for business apps where widescreen laptops are the norm. Full-HD res enables the projection of highly detailed images.

It features a four 300-watt AC lamp optical system reducing maintenance intervals and allowing the projector to work after any one lamp needs replacing. Part of Panasonic’s ongoing environment program, the four original-technology high efficient UHM AC lamps and the new lamp drive ballast system allow 7.5 lumen/watt and consume only 1600w (about half the power consumption of some models from competitors).

A new liquid cooling system cools each chip individually to reduce noise, and a special auto-cleaning robot and double-filter structure provides 2000 hours of use without filter maintenance.

The projector’s geometric control software enables curved and cylindrical surfaces to be projected on seamlessly. This can also be controlled simply through remote control, perfect for live environments where immediate set up is vital.

First Lamp-Free 1080p with Liquid Cooling

"Chilin…" what a great name for a company making its way in OEM on its liquid cooling technology.

A new Chilin Technology projector features Luminus PhlatLight LED in place of a conventional UHP lamp, as well as the latest Texas Instrument 1080p (1920x1080) DMD technology. The projector requires a thermal management system that breaks with tradition: so meet the first Lamp-Free Full HD Home Theater Projector with liquid cooling on the market.

With 600 ANSI lumen and >100,000:1 contrast ratio, Chilin says it can deliver 128% NTSC color gamut, 80% greater than conventional UHP projectors.

The Phlat Light LEDs operate at a high electric current of 30A with far higher heat density than current LED application. Chilin’s liquid cooling technology dissipates heat directly by water to keep the PhlatLight LEDs at a consistent, low temperature. This technology allows “no lamp replacement”. Chilin expects to achieve up to 50,000 hours under its liquid cooling technology.

World's Smallest Micro-miniature Projector

SCRAM Technologies (USA) and MDS Technology (Korea) jointly developed the world's smallest micro-miniature projector that’s only t3 cubic centimeters in volume.

This projector can be built into mobile telephones and other portable electronics to project photographs and animated pictures up to 12 inches in diagonal. Miniaturization is possible with electronic circuitry only 5mm by 5mm.

SCRAM and MDS have also jointly developed miniature personal projectors that are 8, 80 and 298 cubic centimeters in volume. Each product can vary in length and breadth, depending upon the application. Besides mobile telephones, notebooks and digital cameras, these projectors may be embedded into digital video devices and digital picture frames to show both moving and still images.

The Japanese trading company Shinsei Corporation will market these miniature personal projectors with initial product introduction in 2009.

World's 1st 2-channel, 10 MP 3D Stereo Setup

Barco creates the world's first 10 megapixel setup in passive stereo 3D. Commercial applications of this technology include industries that need the most realistic detail in 3D (automotive, engineering, scientific research and oil and gas industries).

Their LX-5 projector (debuted late 2007 as the world’s first 10MP projector) breaks new ground with its integration in Barco’s CADWall concept. For this purpose, it was optimized for a passive 3D stereo setup.

Barco’s CADWall concept is a multi-projector display system with a high pixel density that consists completely of Barco technology. Apart from projectors, other system components include a superflat high-contrast screen, mechanics, and both display management hardware and software.

By adding the LX-5 to the projectors that can be used for this system, Barco has set a new benchmark by requiring only two channels to create a vivid 10 megapixel 3D stereo image.

The passive 3D stereo CADWall setup with two Barco LX-5 projectors was debuted at Tokyo’s Industrial Virtual Reality show. Barco has decided to show this setup during its Innovation Weeks in Kuurne, Belgium.
