Projecta Introduces Two In-Ceiling Motorised Projector Lifts

Pro-Lift Pivot

Projecta introduces two concealed motorized projector lifts: the Pro-Lift (vertically raised lift) and the Pro-Lift Pivot(pivoting lift).

The Projecta projector lifts come with a universal projector mount and are constructed of heavy duty materials. Both universal lifts can be mounted in either a suspended or a drywall ceiling.

The Pro-Lift is a vertically raised lift with a heavy duty steel construction using rack and pinion or screw drives instead of chain mechanisms. The Pro-Lift is available in two versions. The Pro-Lift 25 moves 25 cm down from the ceiling and the Pro-Lift 38 moves down 38 cm. Both versions have a load capacity of 18 kg.

The Pro-Lift Pivot offers a tilting feature with a fixed pivot point to help insure proper projector alignment. The projector lift features a built-in potential free contacts and has an internally mounted control switch for installer friendly operation. The trim flange at the bottom ensures that installation in the ceiling remains inconspicuous. The Pro-Lift Pivot has a load capacity of 11 kg.

Solid Growth for Projector Market

  • PDF

The WW projector market shows 13% Y-o-Y growth in Q1 2011, according to Pacific Media Associates (PMA).

ProjectorThe analyst divides the projector market into x3 categories based on brightness-- new era (under 500 lumens), mainstream (500 - 4999 lumens) and high-end (higher than 5000 lumens)-- each of which shows very different growth rates for the period.

New era (the youngest and smallest category in terms of revenue) shows impressive 95% Y-o-Y growth, while the high end category grows by 29%.

The mainstream however shows only 3% Y-o-Y growth-- but PMA says there are still considerable changes going on within the admittedly wide product range. Growing strong in Q1 2011 are short-throw projectors (including interactive models), within which are ultra short-throw models (with a throw ratio under 0.38), which PMA says are growing the fastest.

Widescreen WXGA resolution models are also growing well, taking over 13.5% of the market (at the expense of traditional 4:3 aspect ration SVGA and XGA models)-- a significant shift for a range traditionally resistant to change.

Triple Flash for Sim2's Latest

  • PDF

Lumis 3D-SSim2 says its Lumis 3D-S is the only consumer projector using triple flash technology alongside its active shutter 3D delivery system-- eliminating flicker and ghosting while providing smoother motion.

Triple flash is called so because it "flashes" each frame (per 24fps) 3 times, creating an overall framerate of 144fps.

The projector also carries 3-chip DLP technology, is optimised for both 2D and 3D content and comes in the attractive Lumis chassis (with vertical lens shift and an enchanced version of Live Colours Calibration software). 3 lens options are available, with a throw range of 1.37 - 3:9:1.

The package ships with XpanD glasses, and is compatible with other M-3DI cross-platform active-shutter glasses once models start hitting the market.

A Home Cinema in a Bright Environment

Genesis Technologies gets De Opera to install their showroom's centre piece-- a home cinema with a 120" Supernova One screen from dnp.

Demo TheatreOriginally planned to be smaller, both companies later decided to make it even more dramatic, with dnp's biggest scren yet.

The Supernova Screen is a front-projection system designed for bright environments. It carries an active high-contrast filter, which dnp says produces vivid pictures with up to x7 the contrast and x2 the brightness of conventional front-projection screen images.

Genesis Technologies meanwhile says the screen's high contrast provides a good combination with LED projectors' high colour saturation.

Supernova screens come in 3 different materials-- 20-20 (for bright and dark rooms with normal-sized projectors), 23-23 (for environments with wide viewing angles) and 08-85 (ISF-certified material for either low-light rooms or bright rooms with more powerful projectors).

MicroVision Outlines 2011 Strategy

SHOWWX

MicroVision, the maker of ultra-miniature projection displays, announces key elements of its 2011 business strategy.

"A revolution in mobile display is coming: a PicoP display technology based on a direct green laser that should address the critical needs of both the mobility and automotive markets," states Alexander Tokman, president and CEO. "Recent progress by global suppliers in the development of native or `direct' green lasers and our engagement with Pioneer Corporation put us on an accelerated path to commercialize a next-generation PicoP display solution in 2012. These developments have allowed us to simplify operations and devote key personnel to advance this important goal."

The highlights of MicroVision's 2011 strategy include:

-- Concentrating resources and working with industry-leading partners to advance the commercialization of the direct green laser PicoP display engine. The company has already engaged Pioneer Corporation and is in advanced discussions with other development partners to facilitate its go-to-market plan for a direct green PicoP engine.

-- Sell existing innovative products based on the synthetic green laser to (a) continue to build market awareness, (b) drive new use models for the PicoP display technology, and (c) increase OEMs and mobile operators experience with PicoP embedded solutions.

-- Simplify operations and reduce 2011 cash requirements by 40%.

The company unveiled late last year the SHOWWX+, the second-generation of their laser pico projector (50% increase in brightness compared to the SHOWWX Classic and more connectivity to today's popular mobile devices). It also purchased a significant patent portfolio from Motorola.
