London-based startup Hero Labs presents a smart leak defense system-- Sonic, a sensor the company says is the only one available in the UK to use ultrasonic technology to monitor water use.
Initially aimed at the high-end residential market, the Sonic sensor is easily installed under the sink. It uses the aforementioned ultrasonic technology in conjunction with AI algorithms to detect anything from a slow dripping tap to a burst water pipe. In case of leak detection the Sonic sends an alert to homeowners via companion app, and can even automatically shut off the water supply to prevent water damage.
According to the company, the SimpleSENCE leak detector is the first line of defense for in-home leak and freeze protection. It is a standalone and self-contained sensor able to operate via wifi, connecting directly to a router without need for a smart home hub or additional subscription. The small design allows optimal placement in any leak prone area, and setup promises to be easy via companion app.
Designed as a discrete security solution, the MR6822 weighs less than 250g and is around as large as a tennis ball. Lilin claims it is the smallest IR dome camera in the world, even if it still features 1080p resolution at 30fps, a high and wide dynamic range for optimum image quality, integrated infrared illumination providing night vision to a distance of 30m and automatic tamper detection.
The latest firmware update to 2N IP-based video intercom door station adds compliance with Crestron Rava SIP intercom phone technology, allowing integration with Crestron TSW-x60 series touchscreens. It also allows for seamless integration with 3rd party electron door locks. The update employs advanced object detection from NSC subsidiary IntelliVision to minimise false positive alerts. The Custom mode schedule can be created and quickly applied to all channels, and all users can set, clear and customise motion area and sensitivity with motion-only and weighted recording support. Users can also employ a privacy mask password protection on per-user basis, with up to 4 regions per camera, and add link recording and privacy options to System mode.
The HomeHawk Floor looks and acts like a stylish lamp, and comes complete with a regular bulb as well as the aforementioned camera. The small camera peeks out of the lamp, at an ideal height to monitor what is going on in the room in question. It is capable of recording HD video through a 140-degree wide angle lens, and even includes a full-colour night mode.
Similar to offerings from the likes of Ring and the Nest Hello, the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell Carries a 1080p camera and a 160-degree wide angle lens, with HDR functionality promising optimal video quality no matter the lighting conditions. In case of complete darkness, IR capability provides night vision.
