Draper Intros New Screen Selection Tool

Screen Surface Selector

When selecting a projection screen surface, everyone knows there are many variables to consider, including screen gain, surface color and screen material. Matching up screen surface capabilities with room conditions can get complicated very quickly, but Draper says it's simplified the process with a free Web-based software tool.

Draper's Projection Screen Surface Selector takes into account variables such as projector brightness, light on the screen, projector location and specs and more to narrow screen surface choices to “good,” “better” and “best.”

The new screen surface selector was developed using InfoComm standards as a basis for screen selection, and designed to be easy to use by people with basic or advanced AV knowledge.

ViewSonic launches the Pro9000-- a laser-LED hybrid 1080p DLP projector ideal for home entertainment, education and commercial applications, first seen at ISE 2012.

Viewsonic pro9000Using LED hybrid technology (combining LED light and lasers to create a single light source) the project provides vibrant display colours the company claims exceed those from normal mercury light projectors. Image brightness is 1600 lumens with a 100000:1 contrast ratio.

Light source life is up to 20000 hours.

TI DLP DarkChip technology powers the 1080p images. Inputs include dual-HDMI, component, composite and S-video, and the projector also carries integrated speakers and RS232 capabilities.

Instant on/off prevents overheating risks and the lamp-free, filter-free design needs little to no maintenance.

World's First 1080p Hybrid LED-Laser Projector

Acer K750

Acer says the K750 is the world's first 1080p projector equipped with a hybrid laser-LED light technology.

The K750 projector uses both LED and laser light sources that are free of hazardous substances like mercury or halogen gases – yet they significantly improve color brightness when compared to high-pressure mercury lamps. This technology also increases the light-source lifetime to 20,000 hours in Extreme ECO mode and enables, says Acer, as much as 90% power savings (helping to reduce TCO and probably making the K750 one of the most environmental friendly projectors).

With a brightness of up to 1500 lumens and a contrast ratio up to 100,000:1, this hybrid light-source technology enables flexible color settings and a wider color gamut to deliver color saturation up to 85% NTSC and offers color fidelity through a system of three independent color lighting sources.

In order to empower usability, the K750 features instant on/off capability, which means no cool-down period is needed after turning the projector off.
