US speaker maker KLH makes a move into the European market with the release of a first pair of headphones-- the Ultimate One, over-ear open-air headphones featuring 50mm beryllium drivers inside real ebony wood earcups.
Launched at the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards, the Ultimate One headphones include a hand-stitched headband and dual-layer memory foam in the ear pads for comfort and support in long listening sessions. Inside are the aforementioned 50mm beryllium drivers claiming frequency response of 18kHz-22kHz and a sensitivity rating of 97dB.
“Our design goal with the KLH Ultimate One was to deliver a rich, enveloping musical experience that, simply put, elevates the soul,” KLH says. “Given the amount of overwhelmingly enthusiastic responses we have received from critics, celebrities and consumers, we have achieved just that.”
Launched at CE Week in New York City, the Audea Intelligent Speaker is a multi-room speaker system able to browse, play and access the features of any music streaming app with or without a phone. It runs Android 9 on a 1.5GHz quad-core A7 processor and a 7-inch touchscreen, allowing users to run and control any music app with a full visual interface, as opposed to conventional smart speakers demanding use of a smartphone or PC. Another means of control is an included handheld remote, while a 4-microphone far-field array and patented VOXXI technology handle voice control.
The BAR 48 is a 3.1 soundbar featuring a dedicated centre channel speaker for enhanced clarity, a wireless 8-inch subwoofer for deep bass and built-in surround sound processing technologies such as Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS and DTS-HD. Designed to fit below the TV screen, the slim-profile soundbar is 1.2m long and just 7cm tall, and can be either wall-mounted or placed on a table.
The Wonderboom 2 retains the same look as the original, being a chunky cylindrical number complete with an IP67 rating against dust and water. It is also able to float in water, making it safe to take around the pool or beach. The update does add a choice of two-tone fabrics, a bigger centre button for pause/play and pairing and a flatter bungee cord loop.
The Concert 9 Series II speakers are available in three finishes (black ash, white and dark apple), and feature magnetic grilles in two natural tweed fabric options (white feature heather gray grilles, and the black and dark apple speakers come with charcoal gray grilles). Satin painted MDF baffles, polished chrome logos and stabiliser cast metal feet ensure the series is aesthetically elegant while providing exceptional acoustics.
The SmartAmp offers 125W per channel out of the box, and features and onboard DSP engine optimised for all Savant loudspeakers, including the PoE-enabled Micro Aperture speakers. The DSP supports an EQ enabling precise fine audio tuning, while the Savant Music app provides easy setup and customisation of shortcuts to favourite music and artists.
