Video Surveillance, Over the Cloud

  • PDF

Ex-Google product manager Carter Maslan has a solution for customers wanting alerts whenever something happens near their homes-- Camiolog, a security service offering 24-hour cloud-based surveillance.

CamiologThe system requires any number of internet-enabled cameras (transferring images over either HTTP, FTP or email), which one activates on the Camiolog service. It allows one to check images from each camera-- and to tweak views further by tagging specific areas of interest (such as a mailbox or front door).

The cameras will stream footage to Google and Amazon data centres, which in turn send instant alerts and video links to PCs and mobile devices whenever the cameras detect motion.

The company suggests a number of applications for the system-- from vacation home and construction site surveillance to keeping track of elderly relatives in their homes.

Camiolog works as a monthly subscription-based service, with no per-camera fees.
