Wyze Debuts Wireless Smart Lock

Connected security product maker Wyze announces a take on the smart lock-- the Wyze Lock, a wifi- and Bluetooth-connected lock customers can use with existing cylinder deadbolts, making it easier to install.

Wyze Lock

Compatible with most, if not all, cylinder deadbolt locks, the Wyze Lock requires connection with the included Wyze Lock Gateway wifi bridge for remote door locking and unlocking via companion Wyze app. In case the wifi is dead, Bluetooth connectivity allows customers to open the door via smartphone and Bluetooth, and in any case the door retains the regular key.

Furthermore, the Wyze Lock is compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control (a feature available in 2020), as well as ZigBee for addition in smart home setups. The lock includes two-factor authentication, hardware encryption and 128-bit AES security, and runs on four AA batteries.

Wyze adds February 2020 will see the release of the Lock Keypad, a wireless keypad accessory adding entry via access code. Users can also set time-based single-access codes through the Wyze app for guests, and the device promises to be rainproof with an iPX5 rating. It runs on two AA batteries and also includes an LED backlight.

The Wyze Lock is available now in Early Access form, before general launch in February 2020.
