As one of the biggest providers of streaming video in the world, Netflix has something of an annual tradition-- a list of the best TVs of the year, at least if the customer solely wants to use said TV to consume streaming video.
Netflix judges TVs according to a very specific set of criteria, all related to the service. Thus, the TV needs to be able to instantly power on and remember where the viewer left off, have an easily accessible Neflix icon on the UI, get to Netflix within a few seconds, switch quickly and easily between apps and, perhaps obviously, support the latest version of Netflix.
This year does see the addition of a new criteria in "Always Fresh." It ensures the app updates in the background of the TV interface (even while the TV is in sleep mode) so new content and trailers appear up front and centre. However one has to keep in mind the criteria do not involve the display or audio side of the TV, especially since the service offers content in a range of resolutions, going up to 4K with HDR.
The Netflix Recommended TVs for 2019 come from 3 brands, Sony, Panasonic and Samsung. The Sony TVs are the Bravia A9G, X9500G, X9507G, X8550G, X8500G, X8507G and X8577G, while the Panasonic counts the GX900, GX800, GX750, GX740 and GX700. Samsung has the Q900R, Q90R, Q80R, Q75R, Q70R, Q60R, The Frame (2019) and RU8000.
