Control4 launches Smart Home OS 3-- a single platform to, according to the company, unify and control "hundreds" of devices within the home, all while delivering personalisation and professional support.
OS 3 supports over 13500 3rd party devices and 7500 Control4 SDDP-embedded products. It promises to scale to the needs of the customer, whether it involves a single-room entertainment experience or a whole-home automation system in a mansion, with intuitive interfaces providing one-touch control of favourite devices and scenes. Also on offer are at-a-glance views for security and lighting and one-touch music and video streaming, among other control features.
A Favourites feature allows customers to prioritise devices for each room, allowing the news station to be on top of the app in the living room, while the over-island lights shop up first in the kitchen view. Users can build whole-home dashboards for at-a-glance views of the most important devices in any room, allowing one to easily check whether lights are on, blinds open and security zones secure. Personalisation options include smart home scenes, automated device schedules and modifiers as to how devices interact.
Customers also get one-touch access to media streaming services, with an Active Media section on top of the screen providing controls and track details. Sessions allow one to easily add or remove adds and adjust the volume everywhere or within a single room. Media playback is improved with MQA support providing high-resolution audio streaming.
