Netatmo Takes on Smart Doorbells

  • PDF

France's Netatmo is the next smart home specialist to present a take on the doorbell-- the self-explanatory Smart Video Doorbell, one of the first of such devices to feature Apple HomeKit support.

Netatmo Smart DoorbellSimilar to offerings from the likes of Ring and the Nest Hello, the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell Carries a 1080p camera and a 160-degree wide angle lens, with HDR functionality promising optimal video quality no matter the lighting conditions. In case of complete darkness, IR capability provides night vision.

Doorbell construction promises to be dust, dirt and water resistant, while installation requires a wired doorbell (Netatmo says it is compatible with all electrical installations, from 8-24V up to 230V). Connectivity takes place via wifi and a companion app available on PC, mobile devices and Apple Watch, while video storage takes place locally or on internal microSD card, with the option for online backups to Dropbox or personal FTP server.

The aforementioned HomeKit support provides iDevice users with notifications in case someone rings or views the doorbell directly from the Apple Home app. One can also pair the doorbell with other HomeKit-enabled devices, as well control it via Siri. In case customers do not use iOS, the doorbell is compatible with the IFTTT platform.

The Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell is available from H2 2019.
