French smart home vendor Somfy presents the Outdoor Camera-- a security offering complete with P54 certification for weather resistance, an integrated 110dB siren and compatibility with multiple home automation solutions.
First seen back at CES 2018, the outdoor camera can not only be integrated with Somfy's own TaHoma home automation system, but also with WorksWithNest ecosystems, IFTTT, Amazon Alexa and Google Home. It also features AI algorithms able to identify intruders, before automatically triggering the siren and notifying the homeowner on the Somfy Protect companion application.
The actual camera records 1920 x 1080 resolution video with HDR exposure enhancement, and features an x8 zoom and a 130-degree viewing angle. It connects to the internet via 2.4GHz wifi, and encrypts recordings in AES-256.
Installers can set up the camera in 3 different ways-- plugged in at a mains power socket, connected to an electrical power input or linked to an outdoor lighting system. A smart activation feature allows customers to simplify departures and arrivals, since the camera automatically turns off when they return home and a notification reminds them to turn on the camera as they leave.
Like other Somfy Protect cameras, the outdoor camera sends out a photo-video alert and records a 10-second video as soon as it detects motion. Users can retrieve the clips from the cloud over the next 24 hours, to check if actual intrusion took place. Somfy also offers a 24/7 guard and remote surveillance service on a monthly subscription basis.
The Somfy Outdoor Camera is available now in either white or gray colours.
