Pioneer UDP-LX500 Gets European Release

  • PDF

Back in April 2018 Pioneer teased a first 4K UHD Blu-ray player, the UDP-LX500. Now the Japanese company confirms a European release for the player, as well as further details on what makes it special.

Pioneer LX500The LX500 is aimed at the higher end of the market. It features rigid double-layer construction and a low centre of gravity, a combination the company says reduces the effects of vibrations within the chassis and allows for rotation speeds of up to 5000 rpm. Inside, an enhanced noise reduction feature promises to improve picture quality, while PQLS (Precision Quartz Locking System) improves the accuracy of signals sent from the player to compatible AVRs.

As a 4K UHD player, LX500 supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 and offers presets for viewing both SDR and HDR content. It also promises high quality audio, with a "direct function" allowing users to turn off the digital audio and video circuits in order to fully appreciate high resolution music sources and CDs with enhanced purity.

Connectivity includes x2 HDMI outputs and x2 analogue audio outputs. The HDMI ports offer x3 output modes-- "separate" (enables high-quality transmission by separating video and audio via the main/sub HDMI outputs), "single" (routes both video and audio output via the main HDMI output) and "pure audio" (delivers an audio-only output from the sub HDMI terminal).

The UDP-LX500 ships on September 2018.
