Samsung is all set for the next big thing in TV as it unveils the Q900R at IFA 2018-- a QLED 8K TV complete with "8K AI upscaling" the company says will be hitting stores as early as the end of September 2018.

Samsung 8K TVAvailable in 65-, 75-, 82- and 85-inch sizes, the Q900R offers a range of 8K-ready enhancements, all with names such as Real 8K Resolution, Q HDR 8K and Quantum Processor 8K. It features 7680 x 4320 resolution, four times of a 4K panel, with HDR 10+ technology optimised for such resolution and peak brightness reaching 4000 nits.

Since 8K resolution content is hard to come by, the TV uses proprietary upscaling technology to boost the resolution of content from any source, be it streaming service, STB, HDMI, USB or even smartphone mirroring. Powering such a task is the Quantum Processor 8K promising to bring images “to a level compatible with 8K regardless of the original source quality or format.”

Samsung includes other features, such as connectivity via One Invisible Connection, a combination of optical cable and power in "one seamless cord," an Ambient Mode showing "beautiful images," weather and news while the TV is not in use and integration with the SmartThings home automation system. Finally a Universal Guide provides personalised recommendations of content on both live and OTT TV.

As mentioned earlier, the Q900R ships on September 2018.
