Panasonic takes on OLED technology as it reveals the EZ1000 at CES 2017-- a "world first" according to the company, since the 65-inch display is HDR-ready and handles UHD resolutions.

Panasonic EZ10000The EZ1000 features a flat WRGB OLED panel supplied by LG Display, and promises to offer "around double the peak brightness of a conventional OLED" and "almost the full DCI colour space." It also carries "professional grade image processing" and a "Dynamic Blade speaker" consisting of 14 speaker units (8 woofers, 4 squawkers and 2 tweeters, plus quad-passive radiator).

On the HDR side the TV supports both HDR10 (PQ) and Hybrid Log Gamma HDR formats, making it ready for both current and future HDR broadcast frequencies.

"The Panasonic EZ1000 unlocks the full contrast and colour potential of the latest OLED screen technology, resulting in pictures of both unprecedented accuracy and spectacular beauty," a company statement adds. As one might expect, the TV supports 4K HDR streams from Netflix, Amazon and YouTube, as running on a new OS complete with favourites folders and HDR content support.

Also launched at CES is a trio of UHD Blu-ray players-- the  DMP-UB400, UB310 and UB300. All can handle 4K video and are compatible with 4K video-on-demand services and footage from 4K cameras.
