Marantz updates its network AV receiver lineup with the SR5009, a home theatre receiver including both wifi and Bluetooth, and announces its first Dolby Atmos-compatible AVR and preamp/processor.

MarantzBluetooth and wifi connectivity allow the SR5009 to access media on PCs or external storage units, with a built-in media player taking care of playback duties. It handles MP3, WMA, FLAC, ALAC, WAV 192/24, AAC, gapless, DSD and AIFF formats, and also streams via Apple AirPlay, web radio and Spotify Connect.

It features 7 channels, each with 180W, and even supports 4K/UHD and 3D, with 8 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI outputs. Further features include Audyssey MultiEQ XT room connection, 4 Smart Select buttons, FM/AM tuner and support for the Marantz Remote mobile device app.

Meanwhile the two upcoming Dolby Atmos-compatible devices from Marantz are the SR7009 AVR and the AV7702 preamp/processor. Both feature the processing power to handle the 9-channel Dolby Atmos layout in 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 configurations using ceiling mounted or Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers.

A 5.1.4 configuration adds 4 overhead speakers to the traditional 5.1 layout, while 7.1.2 is based on a 7.1 layout with 2 overhead.
