The 2013 Panasonic Viera smart TV lineup gets a control addition-- Dragon TV, a voice recognition system designed for TV and STB use from Nuance Communications.
The technology handles a number of TV controls, including volume, content selection and web searches. It also includes text-to-speech functionality, allowing it to read out TV content and on-screen options.
“Consumers need a simple way to navigate and search the overwhelming amount of TV content,” Nuance says. “Dragon TV enables smart TV manufacturers to deliver a differentiated and compelling experience in one of the most intuitive ways people communicate-– through voice."
Panasonic TVs with Dragon TV should start shipping from Q2 2013.
