Onkyo presents the LS7200-- a soundbar system featuring object-based Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technology together with wireless audio via support for DTS Play-Fi, AirPlay and FireConnect multi-room distribution.

Part of the Envision Cinema portfolio, the LS7200 is a 3-piece number consisting of a soundbar, wireless subwoofer and an "AV Centre" control unit. The slim soundbar has a 53mm profile, is wall-mountable and carries a driver array consisting of 2 speakers each for the left, right and centre channels, plus single height speakers. It connects to the AV Centre via multichannel audio cable, and uses AccuEQ acoustic calibration to adjust sound to individual spaces.

In turn the AV Centre offers x4 HDMI inputs for the connection of media players and game consoles, and connects to TVs via HDMI cable with Audio Return Channel to enhance broadcast TV audio. For the playback of content from mobile devices the soundbar uses DTS Play-Fi technology able to hand the simultaneous casting of multiple streams to different speakers without interruption. AirPlay, selectable 5/2.4GHz wifi and Bluetooth connectivity are also included, as is Spotify Connect support.

Extron announces the availability of the XTRA Series XPA 1002-100V-- a half-rack 1U convection cooled power amplifier delivering two channels of 100W rms for 100V distributed speakers.

The professional-grade amplifier features a 100dB signal-to-noise ration and 0.1% THD+N specifications, as well as an Extron exclusive highly efficient Class D amplifier design and Energy Star qualification. Patented CDRS - Class D Ripple Suppression technology provides a smooth, clean audio waveform and improved signal fidelity over conventional Class D amps, while the half rack width metal enclosure conserves space and weighs just 1.1kg.

SVS announces the 16-Ultra-- a subwoofer series currently featuring a pair of products, the sealed enclosure SB16-Ultra and the ported enclosure PB16-Ultra.

The two subwoofers carry a 16-inch driver with an 8-inch edge-wound voice coil and a Class-D Sledge STA-1500D amplifier to produce 1500W of continuous power and 500W peak power bursts. Controlling the amp are 50MHz Analog Devices Audio DSPs with 56-bit filtering, while the cabinet designs employ double-thick MDF front baffles and rigid internal bracing for low-frequency output, deep bass extension, frequency response accuracy and pinpoint transient response.

Subwoofer control comes via mobile device app complete with polarity, room gain, phase alignment, parametric EQ and other DSP function control. It also stores custom presents, allowing users to fine tune bass down to 16Hz from anywhere in the room, and can show bi-directional feedback updates in realtime, even when the subwoofer is not in sight.

Russound announces the A2100-- a compact digital amplifier designed for distributed audio systems or facilitating the use of additional speakers in large rooms or outdoor zones.

It is stable to 4-ohms, and can be used with two pairs of 8-ohm speakers with 100W per channel. It can also be bridged into mono mode with 225W output (8-ohm). Buffered line outputs enable installers to daisy-chain multiple A2100 amps, allowing near limitless extension of the audio chain.

Custom installers get a number of power-on options-- always on, signal-sensing or 12V trigger, meaning it can be integrated in a variety of scenarios. It uses just 0.5W of power in always-on mode, and the 12V trigger output can be used to control other devices, such as additional daisy-chained or bridged A2100 units.

Wireless audio specialist Soundcast announces the VG1-- a premium Bluetooth speaker designed for both indoor and outdoor listening through shock- and water-resistant construction.

The speaker features 2-inch drivers complete with neodymium magnets, a rear-firing weighted bass radiator and digital sound processing. It also features Siri compatibility, meaning users can control it hands-free with the Apple voice-control platform, and a built-in microphone allows customers to take calls.

On-board controls include volume and pause/play, and Soundcast claims the built-in battery powers the speaker for up to 15 hours on a single charge. One can also pair two VG1 speakers for dedicated left and write playback via Bluetooth True Wireless Stereo (TWS).

German TV maker Loewe announces the first in a next generation audio line-- the klang 1, a pair of satellite speakers designed to work in multiple configurations, from stereo to surround sound.

Named after the German word for "sound," the cylindrical klang 1 speakers measure 17.7 x 9.5 x 9.5cm and are covered in black acoustic material for a clean aesthetic lacking in visible screws, seams or fixing. Inside is a 3-inch full-range drive unit the company says delivers a precisely designed waveguide for optimal sound dispersion.

As one might imagine the speakers are designed for integration with Loewe TVs and active subwoofers, such as the recently launched Subwoofer 300, creating a multi-speaker setup without need for additional external processing or amplification. When used with Loewe TVs users can control the speakers with the TV remote.
