ISE 2017 hosts the launch of the Nuvo P400-- a first tabletop speaker for the Nuvo Player, the Legrand whole home audio system, promising access to audio from connected devices and streaming services.

The P400 is a compact 2.1 system powered by a 5.25-inch woofer, two midrange drivers and two tweeters. It carries built-in wifi, an amplifier and speakeras, and connects to a variety of streaming services including Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, Napster and Deezer. Control options include Nuvo Play in-wall keypads, the Nuvo Player iOS/Android app or top-mounted back-lit controls.

Connectivity comes through either wifi (802.11 a/b/g/n 2.4 or 5GHz) or ethernet, and it also features TOSLINK and analog line inputs for connection to an in-room audio source.

SpeakerCraft announces a "major update" to its multi-room audio platform at ISE 2017-- one adding streaming audio services, a more streamlined UI and dynamic zone grouping.

Streaming services found in the software include Spotify, TuneIn, Pandora and other popular internet radio services. The services unlock a 7th source in the MRA-664 chassis driving the multi-room ecosystem's 6 audio zones (expandable to 12 via 2nd chassis). Additionally the dynamic zone grouping feature allows family members to instantly group media zones on-the-fly, perfect for party mode or when entertainment moves from room to room.

Finnish audio manufacturer Amphion Loudspeakers announces the Argon7LS-- a floorstanding replacement for the Argon7L incorporating the same passive radiator design as the Argon3S and Argon3LS.

The passive radiator eliminates problems associated with reflex cabinets, namely the unwanted tail following the correct signal. Amphion says the Argon7LS design creates more natural energy transfer, providing listeners with an improved physical connection to the music, even on lower listening levels.

Waterfall Audio presents a speaker mounting system at ISE 2017-- one designed to simplify the installation of the company's speakers, as well as bring cost savings.

The system has a quick mounting and adjusting function for the front part of a cinema system. A modular rail design helps custom installers, while cable management is integrated into the mounting system. The total depth of the structure is 25cm (including both rails and speakers).

Are CDs still in use as an audio format? Bryston clearly thinks so as it launches the BCD-3, a CD player aimed at audiophile customers.

The BCD-3 features a BDA-3 DAC and a fully discrete Bryston Class A analogue output stage with independent analogue and digital power supplies. The transport/laser pickup assembly is partnered with two AKM 4490 384/32-bit DACs, with each DAC synchronised to the transport using a single master clock in order to eliminate jitter.

The JBL celebration of its 70th anniversary involves the launch of a loudspeaker-- the 4312SE, a high-performance studio monitor loudspeaker pair featuring a 12-inch 3-way design.

A successor to the legendary 4310/4311 monitor family, the 4312SE promises crisp bass and dynamic highs, even at the highest levels. The loudspeakers are built in matched mirror-image pairs and can be positioned in a variety of ways, including horizontally or vertically, with the tweeters on the inside or the outside of the listening position, and can be either shelf- or stand-mounted.
