Origin Acoustics Intros Seasons Bollard Outdoor Loudspeaker

  • PDF

Origin Acoustics launches the Seasons Bollard loudspeaker at CEDIA Expo-- a means to tackle the challenge of producing bass response from individual outdoor speakers in an attractive aesthetic.

Origin Acoustics onlineWhile large subwoofers are often buried in the ground, the requirement to have the sub somewhat close to the mid/high frequency satellites can cause some design challenges. To solve the issue, each Bollard has an own 6.5-inch sub in the base of the enclosure. Burying the small sub base in the ground hides the larger portion of the enclosure from sight. The upper structure is a round enclosure design housing a 4-inch mid/high frequency transducer 45cm above the ground.

The mid/high frequency driver is down firing, and reflects off an acoustic lens. The lens can be either omnidirectional or limited to 180-degrees. Such configuration options allow for substantial flexibility in system design and layout, and result in a round or square aesthetic structure extending out of the ground by around 45cm. The sub is ported out of the same opening as the mid/tweeter.

Powering the speaker is a 70V transformer with 30W, 50W and an 8-ohm tap, making it a perfect choice regardless of the size and number of speakers needed. DSP settings for the Bollard in the Origin DSP3-700 amplifier assure peak performance from the system.

The Bollard is available in 3 finishes (brushed aluminium, bronze or ash black), and ships from Q1 2019.
