The Samsung AI-Powered Galaxy Home Speaker

  • PDF

Following months of rumours and speculation the Samsung take on the smart speaker is finally revealed-- the Galaxy Home, a rival to the likes of the Amazon Echo and Apple HomePod promising to combine "amazing sound and elegant design."

Samsung Galaxy HomeIn terms of looks the Galaxy Home is an odd one, being a fabric-covered bulb-shaped device sitting on top of three stubby metal legs. The flat top has buttons for track skipping and volume control, and inside are 6 speakers and a subwoofer able to produce virtual surround audio, together with 8 far-field microphones for voice input.

The AI powering the Galaxy Home is, of course, Bixby. Users can summon it by saying "Hi, Bixby," and the assistant should be able to do many of the tasks it can handle on smartphones. Samsung still has to specify the actual tasks, other than music playback/control and acting as a remote control for other SmartThings devices.

Samsung is still to announce when the Galaxy Home speaker hits the market.
