Focal adds the Grande Utopia EM Evo and Stella Utopia EM Evo floorstanding loudspeakers to the flagship Utopia III Evo range, both featuring the same technology as current models in the range.
First announced at the Munic High End Show 2018, the two speakers feature TMD (Tune Mass Damping) suspension and the NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit), together with a structure strengthened by the MRR (Machined Reinforcement Rings) system around the speaker drivers. The TMD suspension provides a linear frequency response curve between 1 and 4kHz, whild reducing distortion in the range.
The structure of the speaker adds rigidity using solid aluminium parts positioned between the front speaker and speaker driver basket. The sandwich technology is used in the form of rings for the 6- and 11-inch speaker drivers of the Stella Utopia EM evo, and on the 6-inch drivers of the Grande Utopia EM Evo. The 13- (Stella Utopia EM Evo) and 15-inch (Grande Utopia EM Evo) woofers also use segments of solid aluminium.
Like the first models in the Utopia III Evo range, the Grande Utopia EM Evo and Stella Utopia EM Evo are available in new finishes like Metallic Blue, Ash Grey and British Racing Green. The whole line is also available in Black Lacquer and Carrara White.
