Italian hi-fi maker Audio Analogue announces a second member of the PureAA line-- the AAphono, a phono-stage preamplifier customers can configure for both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges.
The AAphono offers a selection of different gain and loading options for MC cartridges, as well as a range of input capacitance and resistance options for MM cartridges. The company says selecting options is done by simply pressing a button, and the unit stores any adjustments, even if it is switched off or disconnected.
Inside the preamp are three separate toroidal transformers-- two for each stereo channel and a third supplying the control circuitry. Amplification is split between two separate gain stages, with an infrasonic filter placed between in order to prevent low frequency fluctuation overloading teh final gain stage. In addition, a dedicated circuit stops unwanted direct current from reaching the integrated or power amplifier.
The AAphono is available now in black or silver.
