The Bluetooth Speaker in a Suitcase

  • PDF

Hi-fi speaker maker Morel takes to Kickstarter to launch Nomadic Audio-- the "highest end portable speaker" customers can snap into a suitcase in order to enhance the sound produced.

Nomadic audioThe Nomadic Audio speaker consists of two components, the aforementioned Nomadic stereo speaker and the Speakase suitcase. The speaker carries two 6- by 4-inch woofers in a boxless design and two soft dome 22mm tweeters allowing it to cover the entire frequency range, together with a 60W Class D amplifier and 2200mAh battery. Connectivity comes through either Bluetooth 4.2 with aptX and stereo pairing (TWS) ability or wired 3.5mm jack.

The Nomadic works on its own like any portable speaker, but Morel says the audio is improved when used with the Speakase. The speaker slides into the front of suitcase after folding the legs in, and switches mode to a fully air generated sound system. Morel says in tandem with the Speakase the Nomadic can generate bass down to 35Hz, using the internal volume of the suitcase as a cabinet or boxed enclosure.

The suitcase also promises to be a good, well, suitcase, with fibreglass strengthened nylon construction, polycarbonate shell, aluminium frame and ABS material parts. It also includes a three-stage telescopic handle, interior pockets, cotton inside lining, top grip handle, quality zipper and TSA-compliant combination lock.

Should the Kickstarter campaign be successful the Nomadic Audio ships from August 2018.
