Casa Integration Founder Launches Sonic.Build

  • PDF

Dean Clough, founder of San Francisco-based residential technology firm Casa Integration, announces his latest project-- Sonic.Build, a whole-house audio startup.

Sonic.buildThe Sonic.Build product offering comes in the shape of Endpoints, small boxes around the size of a deck of playing cards. Each combines a Raspberry Pi 3 micro-PC with Swiss or British audio components and Roon audio software.

"I call Roon "home audio infrastructure" because it is a uniquely modular approach to having music throughout one's home," Clough says. "Add our Endpoints to a Roon Server, your digital music collection, and a Tidal subscription, and you have an amazing, high-resolution home audio system, that can scale from one or two rooms to dozens."

Currently Endpoints are available in unamplified digital (Sonic Bitstream) and analog (Sonic DAC) versions, as well as an amplified (Sonic Amp) model for monitor-style bookshelf speakers. So far the Sonic.Build project is an adjunct to Casa Integration, but it might go expand in the future.
