Audience launches the ClairAudient 1+1-V2 loudspeaker-- an improved version of the original 1+1 featuring upgraded drivers the company says deliver even greater sonic realism.
The ClairAudient 1+1-V2 has a bi-pole (front- and rear-radiating) design and the A3S2-16, an Audience full-range driver featuring a higher-quality neodymium magnet. The driver uses OHNO oxygen-free copper (OCC) leads between the motor assembly and speaker lugs, as well as one 16-ohm voice coil, eliminating the jumper wire and associated connections needed to parallel the dual-8-ohm voice coils found in previous Audience drivers.
According to Audience, the driver delivers flat frequence response from 50Hz to 22kHz (depending on placement), eliminating the need for a separate woofer, midrange driver, tweeter and crossover network. The loudspeaker uses one A3S2-16 driver in the front and another in the rear along with two side-firing passive radiators in a crossoverless point source design.
In addition, a "+ kit" steps the performance further through the addition of solder-less Tellurium binding posts and premium Au24 internal wiring.
A second Audience announcement involves the ONE-V2 single-driver speaker, now upgraded with the new driver.
