The price of success… Says Mike Blackman, Managing Director, Integrated Systems Events. “Even by taking the whole of Hall 7 at the back of the RAI, we would have sold out of space within a matter of weeks. With another 10 months to go before our 2009 event, we have acted quickly to ensure that all our exhibitors have plenty of opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new layout, and can prepare for it accordingly.”
So ISE will see a new layout as ISE abandons the rearmost Halls 6 and 7 of the RAI. Instead, the show will occupy Halls 9, 10 and 11, which are at the front of the convention centre, close to the train station. These will be connected to the existing Halls 1-5 by the new RAI Elicium, a new building scheduled for completion later this year.

Philips launches the DesignLine LED TV range at IFA 2011, aiming at your more style-conscious customers as it "embodies the philosophy that home entertainment devices should integrate into the living environment rather than impose upon it."
Marketing-speak aside, the range consists of 2 models-- Edge and Tilt TV-- and a home theatre audio system.
The Edge TV appears ideal for low living room tables, as leaning backwards at 6 degrees and "resembles a floating picture frame," according to Philips.
It comes in white and glass, and carries Philips' Ambilight on 2 side, Easy 3D, Smart TV features and wifi connectivity.
Meanwhile the Tilt TV lives up to its name, leaning backwards by 10 degrees. It features a "floating glass screen" with an either black or white frame.
The Tilt TV will be available in 22" and 26" sizes, with a Digital Crystal Clear image processor.
The range also includes the matching SoundHub home theatre, with speakers featuring a reclining stance and exposed titanium tweeters.

Mark Levinson by Harman launches the No 585-- the first high-end integrated amplifier featuring Harman's Clari-Fi processing, a proprietary signal-enhancing technique restoring the audio fidelity of compressed audio formats.
A ClassAB design claims to deliver 200W per channel into 8 ohms and 350W p/c into 4 ohms. Digital audio processing comes via ESS Sablre 32-bit DAC with proprietary jitter elimination and a Cmedia USB audio processor for asynchronous data transfer of DSD and PCM files at up to 32-bit resolution.
Connectivity comes via 6 digital and 4 analogue inputs, including USB, optical, coaxial, AES/EBU XLR and RCA, with fully discrete, mirror-imaged, dual-monoaural analogue input and output circuitry optimized for signal integrity. Meanwhile the analogue stereo inputs uses individual signal switching relays.
Consortium Wants to Takes 3D Home

- Industry news
The U.S. Display Consortium (USDC) and Insight Media announce 3D@Home Consortium, a non-profit alliance to speed the commercialization of 3D home entertainment. The 22 international founding members of the Consortium were revealed at an opening meeting during NAB and include Disney, Philips and Samsung.
Driven by the success of 3D in digital cinema, an entire new ecosystem is forming to develop the hardware, software, content and delivery mechanisms to bring 3D entertainment into the home. They hope to include 3D gaming, sports, movies and other entertainment.
The intent is to run four steering teams (ST1-ST4):
ST1 for 3D Content Creation and Production with high priority as 3D Content Creation (quality vs. quantity) and as mastering 3D content for the home vs. cinema.
ST2: 3D Content Storage, Transmission & Distribution with high priority as file formats, compression, transmission and liaison with standards bodies and other consortia, (requesting actions as determined) e.g. DCI, MPEG, SMPTE, IEEE, 3D Consortium, 3D4YOU, 3DIDA and others
ST3: 3D Promotion with high priority as the common naming conventions and vocabulary - industry level
ST4: 3D Displays with high priority 3D display quality metrics - ghosting, dimensionalization, brightness, etc.

LG displays its PentouchTV plasma series at IFA 2011-- bringing stylus-based touch controls to big screen TVs.
However one needs to connect their display to a Windows PC to take advantage of touch-based features using the included pen-- allowing PC file access and editing.
PenTouchTVs also carry drawing (for budding artists to draw directly on the screen), calendar and gallery software.
A 4-legged stand makes sure the TV remains stable when customers make use of Pentouch features.
The PentouchTV series handles simultaneous 2-pen use and is available in 50" (50PV490) and 60" (60PV490) models, as well as a 60" (60PZ850) 3DTV model (includes a pair of active shutter glasses).
